Thank you for visiting this temporary website for the Assisted Human Reproduction Regulatory Authority (AHRRA). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I understand that the desire to form a family is one of the most fundamental aspects of the human condition. For many people, this path is straightforward but for others, the path can be complex, emotional and marked by challenges that require courage resilience and support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The AHRRA has been given a wide remit to regulate in both the areas of Assisted Human Reproduction (AHR) and in Surrogacy. In the years ahead, the AHRRA\u2019s work will focus on building regulatory systems that recognise these diverse journeys. Our role is to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of those impacted by AHR and surrogacy by ensuring there is a safe and transparent regulatory system in place, whilst recognising that this is a space that is deeply personal and sensitive as well as profoundly important to those who rely on it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since starting with the AHRRA, I have worked with the Board to plan for the years ahead and agree on the required structures and services for the AHRRA to develop and operate effectively. This includes liaison with the Department of Health as we work together towards the operationalisation of the 2024 Act. Much of the current work is focussed on service procurement, developing the initial organisation structure in terms of staffing and functions, and ensuring that the necessary governance systems are in place.

Both the Board members and I are focussed on the timely delivery of the functions of the AHRRA as set out in the Act, including licensing of AHR treatment providers, developing national registers, approving surrogacy agreements and publishing clear standards to guide clinical practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At a later stage, when there is greater clarity about the commencement approach for the Act, further information will be made available to stakeholders and the public. The AHRRA will consult with its stakeholders as it develops its AHR information documents for the public, its licensing processes, codes of practice and the various national registers. My aim is to ensure that all who interact with the AHRRA will experience processes and systems that are transparent and consistent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
